EVOO & health

Regular consumption of EVOO prevents cardiovascular disease. It reduces total cholesterol levels, harmful LDL cholesterol and increases the ratio of beneficial HDL cholesterol. It prevents the oxidation of LDL and arteries, reduces vascular inflammation and improves the function of blood vessels regulating systolic blood pressure and normalizes blood clotting.

Recent scientific research has isolated 230 phenol compunds in EVOO and VOO which are completely absent in refined olive oil and other seed oils.

Naturally ocurring polyphenols in extra virgin olive oils are natural antioxidants which help to prevent various types of cancer (breast, colon and stomach cancer amongst others).

EVOO regulates growth of intestinal flora and aids digestion.

It improves the health of people with ulcers and gall bladder problems. It also helps those with diabetes as the oil helps assimilate sugar.

It favours calcium absorption which is of particular importance in young children, menopausal women and the elderly.
